Foundayo Cost Guide: Prices, Savings Cards & Where to Buy

Updated April 20, 2026

Foundayo is the newest, cheapest, and most convenient GLP-1 on the market as of April 2026. It's an FDA-approved daily pill from Eli Lilly (brand name for orforglipron) that starts at $149/month — matching the cheapest Wegovy pricing without the empty-stomach ritual that makes oral Wegovy painful for a lot of people.

Because it was approved less than a month ago, information about Foundayo is still thin. This guide covers what we know so far: what it is, what it costs at every dose, where to buy it, and how it compares to the competition.

What Is Foundayo?

Foundayo is the brand name for orforglipron, an oral GLP-1 receptor agonist developed by Eli Lilly. The FDA approved it in early April 2026 for chronic weight management in adults with obesity or overweight with at least one weight-related comorbidity.

The key distinction from other oral GLP-1s: Foundayo is a non-peptide small molecule, which means it absorbs reliably through the digestive tract without the food-timing restrictions that hamper Wegovy oral. You take it once a day with or without food. No empty-stomach window. No 30-minute wait.

Why Foundayo Is the Cheapest GLP-1

At $149/month starting, Foundayo ties Wegovy pill at the cheapest entry price. But where Wegovy pill climbs to $299/month at maintenance on NovoCare, Foundayo's early pricing suggests a gentler escalation curve:

That's roughly $250–$500/month cheaper than comparable brand-name injectables like Mounjaro ($350 on TrumpRx) or Zepbound ($299 on TrumpRx but rising to $449 on LillyDirect at higher doses).

Where to Buy Foundayo

Two verified channels are offering Foundayo at $149/month starting:

LillyDirect

Lilly's direct-to-consumer program is the default channel. You can enroll online, get a prescription through their partner telehealth service or your own doctor, and have the medication shipped to your home. Pricing escalates with dose: $149 at starting, $199–$299 through escalation, $299–$349 at maintenance.

Amazon Pharmacy

Amazon Pharmacy is a verified second source at $149/month for the starting dose. Amazon's maintenance-dose pricing hasn't been consistently published yet, but expect it to track LillyDirect within $10–$20. The advantage of Amazon Pharmacy is their shipping is free for Prime members and they accept most commercial insurance (LillyDirect doesn't bill insurance at all for self-pay).

The Savings Card: $25/Fill

Foundayo's Lilly savings card drops your copay to $25 per fill if you have commercial insurance and the plan covers Foundayo. That's the same structure as Mounjaro and Zepbound cards. Savings cards do not work with Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare, or for uninsured patients.

Because Foundayo is brand new, "if the plan covers Foundayo" is the critical clause — most insurers haven't made coverage decisions yet. Expect formal formulary inclusion to lag approval by 3–6 months, meaning serious insurance coverage likely won't materialize until summer or fall 2026.

No Patient Assistance Program Yet

Lilly Cares, Eli Lilly's patient assistance program for uninsured or underinsured patients, does not currently include Foundayo. This is normal for a newly approved drug — PAP enrollment typically opens 6–12 months after launch. If you're uninsured and need Foundayo specifically, the direct self-pay channels (LillyDirect or Amazon) at $149/month starting are your only option right now.

Foundayo vs Other Oral GLP-1s

Medication Starting Maintenance Food rules?
Foundayo $149 $299–$349 None
Wegovy Pill $149 $299 Empty stomach, 30-min wait

Ozempic is injection-only for diabetes; Mounjaro and Zepbound are injection-only. If you want oral, Foundayo and Wegovy pill are the two options, and Foundayo's lack of food timing is a real daily-life advantage.

Insurance Coverage: Too Early to Tell

Most insurers haven't published formal coverage decisions. The typical pattern with new GLP-1s:

If you have commercial insurance and you're set on Foundayo specifically, expect a prior authorization denial through summer 2026 and plan to self-pay in the meantime. Alternatively, starting on Wegovy pill (which has a year of coverage history) and later switching to Foundayo is a path some patients are taking.

The Catch: It's Brand New

Foundayo has real advantages: cheapest price, no food timing, oral form, FDA approved. The flip side is that all the real-world data about long-term tolerability, efficacy at maintenance, and pricing stability is still being collected. Lilly's list pricing is low now partly because they're establishing market share. Whether $149 holds through 2027 depends on competitive dynamics we can't predict.

Bottom Line

At $149/month starting, Foundayo is currently the cheapest FDA-approved GLP-1 in the U.S. If you want oral convenience without food restrictions and don't need insurance to cover it, it's the clear price leader. Buy from LillyDirect for dose flexibility or Amazon Pharmacy for shipping convenience. Savings card and PAP coverage will expand through 2026.
